About this talk

Effective racial justice conversations are critical to disrupting white supremacy, healing its impact, and nurturing relationships among those working to dismantle the status quo. And yet, these conversations can be fraught with risk, backlash, fragility, misunderstanding, triggered trauma, fear, and more. Entering these conversations with a stance rooted in our values, truths and personal magic can help them be more effective, genuine, and, most importantly, humanizing for us -- even if it can’t guarantee the results we want.

In this workshop, participants will sit with their thoughts and fears about, and experiences with, racial justice conversations; explore the tangible and intangible risks inherent in racial justice conversations (e.g., loss of job or power; loss of affirmation from beloved colleagues); and try on practices and stances they can take to root their racial justice conversations in their personal power and inner wisdom.
